Hello, Boris ...

My first reaction was that this is a great portrait, but upon looking at it
carefully I could see quite a few flaws and areas that, imo, could be
improved.

The tonality is pretty good, but a little curves adjustment, using a "S"
curve and bringing up the mid tomes a scosh and adding a little more depth
to "Zone 3" seemed to make an improvement.

Tim's eyes looked a little muddy, so I made a selection and dodged the
highlights a scosh, which gave them a little more life and better reflected
the light and tones inherent in the original and adjusted version. The
difference is subtle but seems to make the eyes come alive a bit, and makes
Tim look a little more alive.

The focus in the original seems to favor the rear portion of the face. I
won't argue the merits of focus points, but by making a selection which
includes the front eye, and the closest part of the face and some of the
beard, feathering the selection, and adding a little unsharp mask, the
focus seems to "shift" a little and makes the OOF closer part of the face
seem more in balance with the rear part of the face.

You did good on this one, Boris.

Shel
