To All:
I recently had the misfortune to be robbed on eBay. A seller posted six
cameras that sold within hours of each other. We all learned too late that
it was a complete scam--the guy collected six money orders and never had any
cameras to sell. It was a simple robbery. eBay "fraud protection" covers you
up to $200, but beyond that you're on your own. I'm out $325, and I can ill
afford the loss right now.
The same guy did the same thing on MSN and who knows where else. His victims
on eBay included a Canadian couple who are newly unemployed after 30 years
(each!) with a paper company, and a Navy Lieutenant and his wife on duty in
Japan.
We're pursuing it with the police, but we're having a hard time interesting
them in the case. So far it's been nothing but red tape.
Word to the Wise--BEWARE. Always cover yourself on eBay. The online world is
changing for the worse with every passing day.
