I've read some, but I'm still confused as to the apprehension about. It's an open format, correct? Is there a risk of lock-in/betrothal to Adobe? Forgive me for not searching the thread if I am risking a flame-war. I have read that according to some claims, data is lost using Adobe's fooRAW>DNG converter, but I'm not adept enough to know what may be lost. I do know that it's a one-way street if you don't encapsulate the original (space waste) or save the original alternatively. Other than that, are there hidden downsides regarding DNG?
