I wouldn't be surprised to see 8MP go away. 6MP is enough for most uses and 10MP offers enough extra resolution to be worth the additional storage space. 8 is kind of neither one nor the other. Even Canon might introduce a 6MP bargain basement camera and do away with the "in-betweens".
