If you want to talk numbers, then if the above is correct (total DSLR sales) Canon is selling half the number of 5Ds than Pentax sells DSLRs in total. And even if you really meant to write total Canon DSLR sales the numbers for 5D sales are still significant and given that Canons estimated profit per unit is four times that of Pentax they are making relatively good money on each sale. Guess why they sell FF DSLRs then. > So, my guess is that before FF sensor cost comes down sufficiently, APS-C > sensors design would have progress farther and satisfy the need of most > demanding photographers. > Besides, even if they offer FF DSLR, that does not at all mean that they > suddenly discontinue APS-C lenses. They probably would still provide lenses to cover both formats but they would market the FF as the professional/upgrade path from the ASP sized sensors that's for sure. > I for one would much prefer compact size of DA lenses and bodies. Pentax could design a nice compact FF DSLR, of course it would have a larger prism and if they didn't include in body SR (if they use a low noise low density FF CCD they could potentially provide a usable ISO6400) then it could be almost as small as a *ist D. -- Rob Studdert HURSTVILLE AUSTRALIA Tel +61-2-9554-4110 UTC(GMT) +10 Hours [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://home.swiftdsl.com.au/~distudio//publications/ Pentax user since 1986, PDMLer since 1998 -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
