Not really, there's no reason, outside of deliberate prevention, to keep 
TTL from working with any lens, on a camera that supports it.  The major 
problem might be that you're outside of the effective range for the 
flash output / sensor(or film for that matter) sensitivity.  But that 
just assumes the photographer has some idea of what he is doing.
