Can't really answer that. I've only used simple, non-dedicated flash units with the *ist DS or K10D to date, other than built-in flash. On the other hand, P-TTL does a terrific job of balancing ambient and flash exposure properly. For me, I would not buy a dedicated flash that wasn't fully compatible with the K10D at this point. Otherwise I stick with the Sunpak 383, which is a lot cheaper than dedicated flash units of the same power class.
