I have used LE version for quite some time - 2 years or so. I didn't
want to wait so I looked at Silkypix and LightRoom beta.

The LightRoom product looked very good. My issues with it were speed
(Windows version, 3ghz HT Intel, 1 gb ram), and speed (many others on
the forums were complaining of real speed issues) and then trying to
be an all inclusive product that duplicated some of my other tools -
among which is my lab connection/web ordering/invoice tracking system.
So it did more than I wanted it to do. The speed issues revolved
around the area of needing to do lots of prep work before I could
really use the tool. So if I had it load a directory of images and
walked away for about 20 minutes, it would be ready to run and be
reasonable on speed. But each shutdown and start up would consume
10-20 minutes before ready to run well. None of my other tools are
such resource hogs. So, while the product is very nice and very
capable, the speed issue is just not tolerable. Coupled with that, I
have to shoot DNG (for my weddings that is too big a cost in card
space) or convert them with Pentax browser. Again, a time constraint.
When LightRoom is released, I'll probably take one more look at it to
see if they have improved the performance to a tolerable level.

In the meantime, I ended up buying Silkypix - the interface is not
quite to my liking, but it does a credible job so far. I was waiting
on Bibble, but they didn't have anything out and no word as to when.
Now I hear that they have support for the K10D, so that is another
option to consider.
