I've never 'accidentally' detached a lens from the body with the K-
mount.

However, I have often noticed that changing lenses with the Pentax
mount seems to be a little slower than changing lenses on my Nikon or
Canon SLRs was. I find I have to change hand positions on the lenses
and body more due to the location of the release button and the index
mark, which slows things down. I often need to find somewhere to put
the lens or body down too, which I don't recall having to do so much
with either Nikon or Canon bayonet mounts.

It's not that big a deal, I don't change lenses as often as a
photojourno probably did in the late '60s-early '70s, and don't have
use a case that is set up for fast lens changes either. Perhaps
that's the bottom line... a case that allowed a quick place to drop
the lens you're taking off safely and pick up the lens you're fitting
would speed up changes and minimize the juggling act.

Hmm I might have to design something ... ;-)
