My wife had a knee replacement a couple of years ago. Your timetable sounds slightly more agressive than hers, but you were probably in better shape to start with.
In a couple of months you'll be asking yourself "why didn't I have this done earlier?", as you'll already be much better than you were before the operation. And it will only improve. After a year you'll be amazed. The one drawback is that you'll begin to realize that perhaps the other knee isn't as good as it could be ... (My wife will probably need to get hip replacements, too).
