Jack,

Aside from the change in your operating system, the procedure to
install the firmware update has not changed since the last time you
did it.

- Download the executable archive package from Pentax
- Run it, it will create a directory named K10E111W which contains
two files named FWDC162B and READ ME. (The full name of these files
is most likely "fwdc162b.bin" and "READ ME.txt" or similar.)

Exactly where on your system these files download to and appear
depends upon how you have configured your browser and Windows Vista.
I cannot answer that.

- Once you locate the download and create the directory, format an SD
card in the camera.
- Place the SD card in your card reader and open a window on it. You
should see nothing or, at most, a DCIM directory in it.
- Drag and drop the file named FWDC162B onto the card, next to the
DCIM directory if it exists.
- Unmount and remove the SD card from the reader.
- Be sure the power switch on the K10D is OFF.
- Insert the SD card into the K10D and close the door.
- While holding the Menu button down, turn the power switch to ON.
Keep holding down the Menu button until the Firmware Installation
info appears on the LCD.
- Follow the instructions to select and installed the firmware update.

When it has completed its operation, the LCD will say "Complete" at
the bottom and the read/write lamp will be flashing. Turn the K10D
power switch OFF then, and open the SD card door and remove the card.
Close the SD card door without the card in the camera, hold down the
menu button and turn on the power again. The LCD should display
Firmware v1.11.

- Put the SD card back into the card reader on your computer. Open a
window on it, and delete the file named FWDC162B. Unmount it, put it
back into the K10D, and format it again before use.

Hope that helps.

Godfrey
