I just went over to the Canon museum and had a poke around there.
They list 19 DSLR cameras in their museum, and another 4 current models that
haven't been updated into the museum (providing I can count that high with
accuracy).
Granted, they were early into DSLR cameras, with their first camera being
released in 1995.

By comparison, Pentax has really only released 4 DSLR cameras (and a few
knock-offs of one of them) in 3 years.
It was bound to happen though, that as the technology matured, it would
filter down to us in the form of a spurt of product replacements.
As long as Pentax stays with real changes when they introduce new cameras,
rather than essentially rebadging present models, I don't have too any
problems with a new upscale camera coming out every year or so.
Whether I buy it or not is something else. I tend to be a lens junkie, not a
camera junkie.
