Uh...I taught in seminary (protestant/evangelical/blah...) for 20 years & for that same amount of time was being nagged to write by my peers. What that meant was to write something (1) academic & (2) theological which at the end of the day I felt (1) no one would really read & (2) the ones who would actually read it would spend their waking hours criticizing, refuting or otherwise burning what I wrote.
Eventually my son gave me the inspiration. Simply, I wrote to him what I believed as a time capsule. Nothing academic or theological, just thoughts for a young adult who might be wondering what his old man thought or believed in. Now if anyone else bothers to read (and buys) those books...cool. My problem is the context of my work and, in general, the culture I come from (Philippines) is oriented towards talking not writing. So an editor/friend simply said start writing any which way. Imagine you're at your water cooler... That's what editors are for, not only do they correct grammar etc, they would help you even out the style. Bong PS I'm on my 3rd book already; summaries of the 1st & 2nd book are on site; click on Essays.
