Where might one find such a beast? It's not in the current Sigma lineup.

OTOH, Sigma is apparently offering its newer DG 500mm f/4.5 in a Pentax 
AF mount (B&H lists it as "New, Arriving Soon). If I understand, this is 
a new design that replaces the previous 500 f/4.5 which Sigma had 
stopped offering in Pentax mount.

I have the previous version Sigma 300 f/2.8 and it's a fantastic lens, 
especially compared against similar lenses at higher price ... so if the 
DG lenses are improved beyond that, they ought to be very good indeed.
