That hit the nail on the head. Long before digital I found my self unable to 
find a custom lab that was consistently good. And the WalMart type of lab was 
orrfull... I believe that most of the "serious" photographers when to digital 
because they could not get good processing.

Have folks noticed that the loudest "Film Is Dead" people here are the ones who 
can no longer make a living feeding it into an automatic machine?

"Film is no longer a major mass market item", is an accurate statement. "Film 
is no longer a multi-billion dollar business", may be true. "Film is dead", is 
not. Hell, my landlady has a horse an buggy; and, no she does not use it to 
drive to work.
