My thought for holding the fibres in place was to poke them through the front face of the adapter and fill it with clear resin (the white stuff inside the red adapter in my model). Not having ever used fibre optics I don't know if this is even feasible. As for a way to hold the fibre, I think this type of coolant hose would be pretty good.
