A1. 43mm to evaluate the performance of all future purchases!

A2. This is where I learn from previous experience.............

24/28-70 f/2.8 zoom 
70/80-200 f/2.8 zoom
10-20 or 12-24 zoom
Lots of primes, starting from the wide end...............serious LBA begins 
to set in.................ending with all this kit I deem necessary to take 
damn photographs 8)
