Charles,

Jiggle with that pin/door you replaced.
It sounds like the interlock switch on the SD card door is not well aligned.
That door has to register as closed for the camera to be powered up.
Look at the door latch itself... maybe a fraction of a mm out of true?
Your finger push by the door disengages the micro switch.

Local repairman an option?  Or give Pentax a call and ask to speak to
the repair techs, not the phone folks, the actual techs.
