Nope, that wasn't it. I took the leap, and following instructions on this page: http://www.xdeltax.com/tutirmodding/index.html I took the shell off of the camera and determined that there are NO circuits inside the camera near the grip - just the batteries. There is a complex relationship between the top shell, the switches that are mounted on it (shutter, DOF preview, exp. compensation) and the circuits that they contact (which are on the body). After disassembling the camera, then reassembling it without the handgrip panel, I was able to see that the only thing that could have been affected by the way I was pushing on the body of the camera was the top power/shutter/DOF switch (and the way it interacts with the circuit boards (brushes on the top panel, circuits that they contact mounted on the body). I couldn't get the camera to fail with that panel off. Then I reassembled everything, and it works perfectly. I cannot get the power to blink out again. So.... something was loose or out of whack and the disassembly/reassembly process seems to have aligned all of the parts back where they needed to be. Whew! I took some pictures, but this guy whose website I referenced took some already. Here you can see that there are no circuits/panels/ ANYTHING next to the batteries on the right side of the camera: http://www.tfh-berlin.de/~s22202/xdeltax/tutirmodding/IMGP1648.jpg http://www.tfh-berlin.de/~s22202/xdeltax/tutirmodding/IMGP1656.jpg ..and this picture just looks horrific! http://www.tfh-berlin.de/~s22202/xdeltax/tutirmodding/IMGP1672.jpg -Charles -- Charles Robinson - [EMAIL PROTECTED] Minneapolis, MN http://charles.robinsontwins.org -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
