It really is pretty simple once you get the setup in
place. I forgot to mention the adapter that lets you
reverse mount a lens on the bellows. My bellows is
actually an old screwount set - I have an M42 to K
mount adapter on a small extension tube and leave that
on the end of the bellows. I had pretty good luck with
an SMC M 50mm f1.7 lens reverse mounted on this setup.
For a while I used a Sigma 50mm f2.8, but the Pentax
M50 f4 macro really is the sharpest.

I usually leave the side bulbs on - despite looking
bright in the photo, they are really insignificant in
terms of how muchlight they put out. I stop down to
f11 - 22 depending on how flat the crystal is. My math
may be wrong, but with 100mm of extension f16 is an
effective f64.

For the lights - I have some really ancient screw in
florescent bulbs. I think any bulb will work so long
as it does not get hot...
