Max vapour saturation drops rapidly with temperature below freezing, so it's probably both. In my garage, it depends very much on the temperature trend. If it's on the rise, the garage is always colder than outdoors. That's good. After periods of mild weather, the crystals self-destruct before I even get them in focus.
