We should take this one very seriously indeed. It's hosted by a
Rockwell, so it must be right.

In many important ways it doesn't matter one bit whether global
warming is happening or not because the measures we should be taking
to reduce it are things we should be doing anyway because they make
our lives much pleasanter.

Fossil fuel emissions are filthy and unhealthy. They choke our cities
and our countryside, and they make the lives of millions, if not
billions of people thoroughly unpleasant. Cleaner, sustainable fuels
must be a good thing - the only possible downside to them is the cost,
and we're plenty rich enough to afford it. Anyone who remembers what
British cities were like before the Clean Air Act must know what a
difference it made; even better results are likely to accrue from a
global clean-up, whether it saves the planet or not.

Similar reasoning applies to recycling our rubbish, reducing landfill,
plastic and so on. What arguments can people produce in favour of
continuing the way we've been going for so long, polluting and abusing
our habitat? All this filth and crap that we dump makes our lives, and
the lives of billions, far worse than it needs to be. What's wrong
with cleaning it up just for the sake of improving our lives? We
shouldn't need the pistol of global warming to be held to our temples
to make us do the right thing.

The only people who argue against this are the polluters themselves,
who don't suffer from their filth and crap anyway, and stand to lose
some of their $$$ billions. Tough luck on them.
