I was just teasing.  I knew it would get a rise out of you!  :-)

Granny rings are known to save knees, especially in the mountains.

I was running a 42-21 as my smallest gear, and that was way too big.
You're right, we didn't really ride any mountains on our little ride.
I'd have wanted a 39 ring, and maybe a 23 cog to do those mountains.
A granny ring might have been nice, too.
