"Alpine" gearing was 53-39 'rings and 11-23 (or even 25 for real steep climbs). I was running standard gearing when I road with Mark in the Blueridge range, but really we didn't do any climbing to speak of. Still, on the last short steep hill up to the cabin, my thighs and lungs were burning (but then again, I was out of shape after 6 months off the bike from the collarbone break). cheers, frank -- "Sharpness is a bourgeois concept." -Henri Cartier-Bresson -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
