Bob - thanks for the comments. There were several bugs flying around among the various flowers. At first I tried to follow the bugs, then gave up and just framed the flower I wanted and waited for the bug to come to me.
I think the color is about right. I forgot to mention that I had a Tiffen enhancing filter on the lens - the combination of the neutral-to-subdued Portra film plus the filter seems to produce pretty accurate, slightly saturated, colors. I know it would have been much "brighter" with Kodak Gold or one of the Fuji films, but this is late September after all and most natural colors are a bit muted . . . I am not totally happy with Portra as a general purpose film, but it does have the advantages that (a) my local store consistently has it in stock, and (b) I can get the same film for both 35mm and 645.
