They must have *some* idea or they'd submit every photo they took, and I don't think even the worst of them do that! I think part of the problem for many is that their goal is "to get a photo into the Pentax Gallery" rather than "to take a really good photograph", so they submit a whole lot of stuff hoping that somehow one of them will make it through the gauntlet.
