It's an IDE drive so it depends on how your primary boot drive is 
configured, if it's configured as master then the second drive must be 
configured as slave, if it's cable select then the second drive must be 
configured as cable select.  Almost all modern drives have a jumper 
diagram right on the label on the drive itself, which is mostly self 
explanatory.
