Hence my question about SLI, on the theory that I could ameliorate that
potential bottleneck. I
have tried to debottleneck read write speeds by incorporating a total of 8 hard
drives into my
computer, all of them paired with another, two as a RAID 1 (file storage), and
6 as 3 RAID 0
drives (I keep my OS, programs and Windows swap on one, and use the other two
for Photoshop
swaps.)
Unfortunately, I seem to have created a very power hungry little box. The 650
watt power supply
that I thought would be ample is not sufficient, and I periodically get a
notification that the
video card is throttling back performance because it can't get enough power.
I have an 850 watt Zahlman power supply on the way to replace the 650 watt
Mushkin.
By the time I get this little project done to my satisfaction, I am certain
that I will be able
to build a nice computer from the spare parts that didn't quite cut it in the
present box.
