Nice work. A well composed photo. The blacks are a bit heavy on my monitor, but one really can't judge a print by the way it appears when scanned as a small jpeg. Congratulations on some nice work.

I was going to say much the same thing - the first thing that occurred to me was that I'd like to brighten up the whites a bit and bring out some detail in the shadows (something so easy to do in Photoshop).... and then I flashed back to just how damned difficult that always was to do in the darkroom.

As much as I love the complete control that digital photography gives you when combined with a good image editor, I still miss the physical work of setting up the enlarger, figuring out the cropping, working on the focus/exposure/contrast, and developing a print.

In much the same vein, I miss LPs too - not for their sound, because it was always a pain to make them play:

 1. At exactly the right speed
 2. Without distortion
 3. Without pops, clicks, and rumbles

No, I just miss handling 'em! CDs (and now MP3s and other various digital forms) are much much much easier to handle, sound "just as good" most of the time, and are very convenient - but at the same time, less satisfying.

Congrats on getting into that film class. The print looks like a good first effort. How much longer does the class go (or are you done already?)

Here is the first print I made. I took the picture at the Choctaw Labor Day Festival in Tuskahoma, OK.
