I finally got around to taking a black and white film class this semester at
the local community college. As it turns out, I was just in time. All of us
in the class were surprised when they told us it would be the last film class.
With two sections, both full and with waiting lists, it looked like it wasn't
going anywhere soon.
It turns out that the Graphical Communications area, which is what photography
falls under, is being remodeled. Initially, the plan was to outfit a new
darkroom, but the head of the department decided he could use the space better
for something else. Anyway, I'm glad I made it in.
Here is the first print I made. I took the picture at the Choctaw Labor Day
Festival in Tuskahoma, OK.

Ira, that's a blast from the past in many ways: PZ-1p! Ilford HP5+!
And the photo has a "old" feel to it.
Sad to hear that the film-based photo courses are disappearing where you
are (where is that, by the way?) , though they seem to be hanging on
here in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh Filmmakers still maintains darkrooms and
offers courses. I know a couple of the instructors there but haven't
spoken to them in a while. Maybe I'd better get on the phone and see
what's up...
