There are not quite as ubiquitous here as some places.

I tend to agree with you Bob, but the other night we were in
a parking structure moving verrrry slowly toward the exit.
Made the mistake of returning to the car from dinner at the
same time a local theater was letting out. A parking
attendant came zipping up the ramp on a Segway, against the
flow of traffic, checked on the length of the line or
whatever, went zipping back down. Very shortly thereafter we
started moving much more quickly; I believe he had confirmed
that the backup was sufficient to call in a second or third
or fourth attendant to take payments at the exit. Or maybe it
was a coincidence. In any case, using a Segway to move
quickly around a multistory structure like that, and
presumably similar usage on the street-level, seems an
efficient way to provide more service with fewer people.

I would **love** a Segway.

Why? It looks like just another way to get fat, and a ridiculous
misapplication of technology. Walk or cycle.

Some good photos of the fires in CA here:

I particularly like #5, which confirms all our prejudices about
Californians

I would **love** a Segway. Sadly not legal to use on
public highways
or footpaths here, and as my estate only measures 60 feet by 20,
probably not quite large enough to make use of its raison d'etre.

Good fore pics - my heart goes out to those that have lost their
homes.
It must be terrifying.
