So quick to label, so quick to call others names, without even a glimmer of understanding or compassion ... bought the line from the Yes on H8 crowd hook, line and sinker. You must be truly scared to lose that which is precious to you. I wonder how you'd feel if you were told you could not marry the person you love.

And that is exactly what has been suborned in this process, Paul. It was not a democratic process by the rules of the very government that we subscribe to.

In an earlier post you called the Mormons "fundamentalist radicals." And you accuse me of calling others names? How strange. I haven't ascribed a name or an unfavorable adjective to anyone. I have many gay friends, and when I worked in New York my partner was gay. He used to take me shopping and pick out my clothes. I was very fond of him. But this isn't about gay and straight, black and white, liberal and conservative, or any other names. It's about a referendum and the ballot box. It's about respecting the will of the people. "It will fail, they will fail.," you said. Are you advocating violence against those who don't share your beliefs?

I'm a nihilist for the most part. I don't believe in anything dogmatically. But I'm tired of the endless tirades against fundamentalist Christians, Mormons and anyone else who doesn't subscribe to the code of the liberal secularists. And of course the latter have become a religion in their own right. Four days after the election, moveon.org ran a full page ad in the New York Times reminding Mr. Obama of how much money they had raised for him and telling him exactly what they expected of him. An agenda. From the most pigheaded, most dogmatic religion in the United States.

I hope that my gay and lesbian friends get everything they want. But at the same time, I hope that they honor the decisions that a democracy makes at the ballot box.
