I use Firefox and I have the Adblock Plus plug-in for it... but I have
never used it. That's because I also have the FlashBlock plug-in. It
blocks all Flash elements on a page. It replaces each one with a flash
logo, which I can click on if I want to see the Flash content. This lets
me view Flash on the rare occasions I want to do so, and it blocks 99%
of the annoying ads.
I'm all in favor of supporting advertisers who support the web sites I
enjoy, but I won't tolerate those that annoy me.
Smart advertisers know that annoying potential customers is a bad idea.
As for the others...
I'm also using Firefox, but I don't think I have the Adblock plug-in. I
just use a hosts file to avoid most advertising.
I still see advertising that's actually on the site I'm visiting, but
anything going to a long list of advertising server domains just gets
re-routed to 127.0.0.1 localhost
