I've generally found that my hands will adjust to any camera within a
few weeks. I've shot with both Mamiya and Rollei TLRs, a speed
graphic, a Pentax 6x7 and a little screwmount Leica. After a few rolls
they all felt right at home in my hands. When I first picked up the
K10D, I wasn't overjoyed with the fit compared to my *istD, but I soon
became very comfortable with it. After a while, going back to the
*istD felt a bit foreign. In the end, it's all about what does the
best job for me at a price I can afford.

Funny stuff: handling the Nikon D700 and D3 I always walk away
with "now
that's impressive!" but with with no particular desire to buy one.
I walk away with, must have one.:-)

The only time I ever picked up a camera and had that reaction was with
the Sony A700. It simply fits my hand perfectly (I didn't buy it
though, due to lens replacement costs). The D300 is second for DSLR's.
I dunno why it is but the minor body changes the D700 and A900 both
have from their DX crop brethren make handling slightly worse.
