A friend recently asked me for a recommendation for a camera for his
daughter. She is in her late 20's, married, kids, etc. She said she
wanted something beyond a point n shoot. I made several
recommendations and even suggested going to Amazon.com. He was in a
new appliance/electronics chain that just opened in this area and
called me irt a Sony 300 kit with two lenses. The price was good but I
told him it was probably too much camera for his daughter. He bought
it anyway.
Last weekend I was at his daughters house for his surprise birthday
party. She was running around shooting like crazy. The camera was in
liveview mode and she was doing all her composing by looking at the
lcd screen. I tried to show her how to use the viewfinder, even
explained and showed her how it would focus faster via the viewfinder.
She would have none of it and kept shooting. Later I heard her talking
to someone saying that only about half of her pics were coming out ok
and she was happier with her old point and shoot in some ways. Go
figure!
