1. So, my question is - what are the good places ...

I've ordered all my paper and ink supplies from atlex.com for the past three years. No problems with them, and I can't find any cheaper prices.

2. If I were to buy the size larger then the intended print, -
Is it better to cut it before or after printing?

I've tried cutting custom sizes prior to printing. Between wastage and imprecision in cutting, and the time it takes, it doesn't really do you any good either in money or consistency.

Gang-printing on larger sheets of paper, then cutting to size, works better, but the options are kinda limited unless you intend to make very small prints.

2a. Do Epson printers work ok if you send the same piece of paper
through it more than once?

Generally yes. Depends on the paper, of course.

3. Does the rating Epson makes (3*, 4*, 5*) for their various types of
paper reasonably reflect the quality of the paper?

I've never looked at the ratings. Irrelevant. Look at the paper.

4. What is the "luster" type of paper surface?

A slightly textured semi-gloss. I don't like it or other deeply textured paper surfaces very much.

5. What type of finish is "satin" (in "Ilford Photo Satin" and "Epson
Premium Canvas - Satin" papers)?

You have to look at the specific paper to see... each manufacturer's terminology is a little different.

6. Has anybody had any experience (positive or negative) with
Epson Ultra Premium Presentation Paper - Matte ?

Ultra Premium Presentation Matte is an ultra-smooth, ultra-matte paper. It's coated stock with optical brighteners, has a slightly blue base white; the backside is visibly more yellow and won't take ink well. The brighteners fade a bit in the first year and the paper warms/ yellows a little ... not horribly, but enough to be noticeable. It's a fairly light weight paper and pretty inexpensive.

I've used it for a lot of photos, even in exhibition, for several years. It doesn't have the depth and richness of the fine art papers, certainly doesn't have the feel in the hand, but with the right subject matter and proper color/tonal adjustment, it mats and frames well and looks great.

7. Would you recommend any photo paper suitable for printing with R2880 on both sides? What I have in mind is making some personalized greating
cards.

The above paper is available in a two side printable version and is what I did my holiday cards with. Be careful: one side is best for printing light text and won't take ink as well as the other side for photos. Whenever you print double-sided, print the lower coverage/ lighter ink side first and let the paper dry down a bit before you print the other side.
