this site shows a Carl Zeiss 50mm f/0.7 lens for a 35mm movie camera,
bought by Stanley Kubrick so he could shoot
'Barry Lyndon' in candlelight alone:

I remember a documentary recently in which the price was mentioned,
but I don't remember the price itself. There were a lot of 0s in it
though. I think he bought it out of his own personal money so he could
always have it available when needed.
