Glad to read that - pity nowadays there is little hardware difference between those MAChines and the rest of the Personal Computers other than their prices...

Started misusing computers with an IBM 1130, punching fortran in cards and getting results printed. Upgraded to a MSX loong after that, loading programs and files from a k7 tape. Built my own 80386 with an astounding hard drive. Right now using a small and patched-together centrino notebook. Tried many Apple products, nearly all of them extremely expensive compared to lowly generic but sometimes more capable brands. Used to admire from the distance the video/ graphics advantage of true Macs over the x86 family. Can't say I miss the new Macs.

That said, I use Linux. The moment I have all my pet programs and games running perfectly under Linux, I'm going to turn the page on Windows. Gladly. There is hardware and there is software. So far, I'm using reasonably priced hardware capable of running free Linux. While the cost is part of the decision, it's just part of the decision.

The world is beginning to take notice. We thank Vista in no small part.

Apple today reported the best quarterly revenue and earning in its history, ”surpassing $10 billion in quarterly revenue for the first time ever,” according to Steve Jobs. Announcing results for its fiscal 2009 first quarter, Apple posted record revenue of $10.17 billion and record net quarterly profit of $1.61 billion, or $1.78 per diluted share. During the quarter, Apple sold 2,524,000 Mac computers, a record 22,727,000 iPods, and 4,363,000 iPhones.
