On 21/1/09, Tony, discombobulated, unleashed: >Now, the iPhone is a whole 'nother ball of wax... > >That has GOT to be THE coolest gadget ever invented. >If they ever get Blackberry/BES integration, I may have to go to the >Dark Side. >I got my wife one (original non-3G after the $100 price drop) Christmas >2007, and to this day, she still says it's the "coolest" Xmas gift i >ever got her. She had a good Xmas that year - the iPhone, and that >Compaq lappie :)
I had a bizarre incident the other day. I was driving on some wet and slippery back country roads when I came across an accident - just 60 seconds earlier a car had misjudged speed on a corner, hit the side of the road, over-corrected the spin, and flipped through 360 to land in a hedge, right way up. Two female occupants still strapped in and stunned, about to enter shock, but no LOC and no blood, so best leave em in situ etc etc. I pulled up and joined other would be rescuers who were on cellphones to emergency services. One shouted "oh hell - where are we?!" after operator asked location. I calmly pulled out iPhone and opened map app - within 5 seconds the GPS had found our position, the blue orb dropped onto the map and the 3G connection resolved the map. I said " on the A326 between ther A4074 junction and Little Marston". The info was relayed one rescuer said of the iPhone, "That's handy!" As I directed traffic on the corner before 2 ambulances and 3 police cars arrived, I (too) marvelled at the iPhone - usually it takes so long to lock on with the GPS that I was anticipating booking the funerals with it. ------- ;-) -- Cheers, Cotty ___/\__ || (O) | People, Places, Pastiche ||=====| http://www.cottysnaps.com _____________________________ -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
