# # A couple of questions coming to the surface... # # RAW v. JPEG - I know the differences and have shot both. My # concern is quick turnaround for these shots. If I need to # post-process RAW into JPEG, I'm adding time (although how much of a # time difference is there between the RAW converter and adjustments in # PS) I use lightroom, import the raw files, process and export into jpeg. The export step takes about 10 seconds per frame. All it takes is one jpeg that takes ten times as long to try to save as it would in raw to process to get that time back. # # RAW v. JPEG - not sure of the write time difference with the # K100D, is it even relative? Dunno, I've never shot RAW. The K100 has a three shot buffer. You do have to be careful about not "wasting" buffer space. Be free with the first shot, a little careful with the second, and very careful with the third. # # Higher ISO = more 'grain'. Does anyone have a preferred cleanup # tool? I've used Neat Image in the past, but haven't in a long while. # I use PS Elements 5 to do my work. # # Using the grey card, how do I go back to reset the white balance # (or should I just use it to manually set the white on camera)? The way I do it in LR to get close: In Grid view, select a bunch of photos. Click on the one with a grey card. type w click on the grey. However, you're probably best off doing both: When you get to the gym, manually set WB. (assuming AWB) turn off auto focus fn, left arrow, up arrow, right arrow, aim at grey card, shutter, OK turn on auto focus. That'll get you close, but you'll want the grey card shots as a backup. Plus, there's always B&W. Did you say that you had a kid in the competition? Buy him some neutral grey socks and sweat band. # # # -- # Thanks! # Ed # # -- # PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List # [email protected] # http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net # to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions. -- It's not the steps in the dance, it's the dance in the steps.
