Well, K-m is just the name for the camera in Japan. It's K2000 in
the states and elsewhere (I think). The m is supposed to stand for
mom, since moms are the primary marketing target that Pentax is
going after with the camera, especially in Japan.

K-m for mom? What is the Japanese word for mom. or mother? I don't
know. I do know it's not mama-san.
I think that's an incorrect attribution for the m, even though their
marketing is skewed that way.
