I've had the SDII since 2000 and have probably put 600 to 800 rolls of film through it. They are a bit delicate, certainly compared to the Nikon, but with careful handling they do all right.

VueScan drives the SDII MUCH more effectively than the Minolta software ever did, particularly on focusing.

The Nikon Coolscan IV ED is a brick: one of the best film scanners ever made in the opinion of Ed Hamrick (author of VueScan).

I concur, with one caveat. The Minolta's aren't up to serious use. I
killed my Scan Dual III after ~300 rolls in ~2 years. But for
lower-rate use they're great.
