How about the dust removal, though? I have an Epson 4990 Photo with Digital Ice which ViewScan does not support. It has its own infrared clean which does not work so well. It still does a better job with respect to image quality than the drivers which came with the scanner, though.
IR dust/scratch removal never works well or at all with traditional B&W films. VueScan does ok with my color neg and C41 B&W. I tend to just keep my film spotless and not worry about it, turn off the feature.
also own a Konica Minolta Scan Dual IV which I use for 35mm. It is great. However, K-M got out of the scanner business at the same time they sold their camera line to Sony, and I had a devil of a time finding a new driver for the scanner when I went from my G4 running OS 10.3 to my Imac G5 running 10.4 two years ago. It will probably be even more difficult now to find a driver for OS 10.5.
