As a lens for portraits (as well as for low light situations), what about
the Zeiss 50/1.4 Planar T*?

It's a superb lens (I own the older Contax/Yashica version). But I'd
skip it in Pentax mount because it simply doesn't justify the price
gap over the FA 50/1.4. The Pentax lens is a superb performer and
costs around half of the other 50/1.4 options cost (and a little over
a third of the cost of the Zeiss).

I agree with William. I put together a little 50mm 1.4 gallery for you to
check out. For the money, I think it does a great job. Any imperfections
you see, blame me & not the lens. I tried to show you some different
lighting situations to give you an idea. The server these photos are hangin on has been acting like an adolescent that doesn't want to play nice, so try
later if you can't get a connection. Cheers, Christine

Just for posterity, I'll note that's me you're agreeing with.

Otherwise Hell's going to freeze over. Somebody agreeing with William.
