You keep neglecting to remember used  books, which is a huge portion of the 
book selling going on now.
 
I can foresee books continuing, just like movies in theater continue, for  
the resale/rental market. Like movies are still in theaters but the biggest  
market for them now is rental.
 
Often, used books can be had for pennies, making them accessible to anyone.  
Just check Amazon. And there is no reason that publishers couldn't get into 
the  resale market as well.
