Thanks, Larry, Fernando, Christine.
Well, Larry, I bought this lens in order to try its optical qualities as
indeed at f/1.2 I fail to produce consistently good images. Sometimes it
is soft and sometimes it is quite sharp, while I cannot still tell why.
However, I just realized that last 3-4 months I've been shooting
exclusively with this lens and I don't even think of other lenses when I
need to prep my camera for a walk or a short local trip. I only shot
Tamron 28-75/2.8 few times when I had to shoot an event for Galia's class.
IMO, sensor development has nothing to do with it. For all I care, any
lens that is f/2 or even f/2.8 (if sharp wide open) is fast enough. For
example, Tamron 28-75/2.8 is absolutely up for any reasonable job with
my K10D.
So, honestly, though Pentax need to have modern 50-something/1.4 lens, I
don't understand the price and I don't quite understand this new DA*
55/1.4 optic. Though I hope I will grow to understand it.

I've been jonesing for a 1.2 for a bit over a year now. On one level,
I don't understand why Pentax doesn't dust off the A 50/1.2, put an
autofocus motor on it and sell that. On the other hand, if sensor
speed follows Moore's law, doubling every 18 months, f/1.4 to f/1.2 is
about one year's worth of sensor development.
