I would expect they want K-m owners who want to take really good pictures of their kids/family to have a weather proof optimized for portraits lens they can buy. The DA coatings are better, though. This is actually quite obvious comparing the same flowers with FA 31 and DA 35; the FA 31 has a very distinct mood, but the DA 35 is doing much better on the high blues and the purples and the depth in the green tones.
