No, I don't like LR's file management and am explaining why. My film scan organization makes a lot of sense for my needs as it allows my negatives and my scans to be organized identically and thus finding scans for a given neg sheet and vice versa is pretty much instantaneous, while my digital files get organized is the simpler date-based heirarchy most use. I have no idea why one would want to organize negatives based on date of import or scan rather than date of shooting or roll index. Of course, if it works for you, go for it. LR makes more work for me, not less. The more work could possibly be justified if I chose to make use of keywording to enable simpler searching, but I don't as the combination of the up-front work to keyword initially is off-putting and the search functionality is something I just don't really use (I don't use search much in the filesystem either, despite both OS X's and Windows excellent and powerful filesystem search capabilities). You seem unable to understand the idea that LR's work-saving features can actually create more work in some situations. Using LR requires me to do more work than using Bridge and my heirarchical filing system. This slows down my workflow rather than easing it. -- M.
