When I initially tried my first SDM lens I thought it was slow, until I
realised I hadn't enough pressure on the shutter release to activate AF on
the odd occasion Doh!
The 55/1.4 takes almost a second to travel from close focus to infinity.
This is about 3 times longer than what it takes for the FA50/1.4 to do the
same thing.
And while the motor is silent, the mechanism is far from silent.
