Thanks Christian, time I gave it up and get some rest I think. I'll take a look 
at the last update tomorrow from the i-Mac in work. I have to say I think I 
need at least a 400mm lens.

It's a beautiful bird with a great background and a nice perch.
Unfortunately, it's such a tight crop that there are still visible
artifacts around the bird and the sharpness just isn't there.  Being the
person I am, with the "right" gear for bird photography (just talking
about focal length, not brand) I'd call it a miss and not try to "force"
the image.  But that's me.  Don't listen to me.
